A Series Of Weird Events…

I swore I was done with cozy mysteries and I got sucked into another one…yep…a 40 pound Maine Coone Kitty named Diesel and his librarian owner named Charlie…together they help solve crimes!  This one is so good I can’t even stand it! Plus I am the person who absolutely hates reading series out of order and I have not read any of my cozies in order!  What happens is I end up buying the first book in the series because these have been so good.  Diesel and Charlie are such a sweet team.  Diesel goes everywhere that Charlie goes!  And he loves people…especially babies!  I love this cat so much I have to calm myself down and actually get into the real story.  Sigh!

So…today I got my third pair of the same Ugg booties from Nordstrom’s!  No one knows why I keep getting these booties but I have two in chestnut and one in black!  The magic of Christmas?  It’s too funny until Den and I have to trek to King Of Prussia to take them all back!

On a sad note…

I talked to my friend Mary Jo today…her mom died early Christmas morning.  Mary Jo and I met in Kindergarten and we have been friends for years.  She lived in California but moved back to the little town of McDonald…where we both grew up… a few years ago.  She bought a cute little house because in McDonald there are lots of cute little houses.  If you move back to McDonald you live close to your parents, you can still see lots of the same people you went to school with and life is good…safe…and fun.  Her mom’s name was Mary…her dad’s name is Joe…and they named her Mary Jo.  I think Mary Jo was the last of my McDonald friends to still have both of her parents.  I am sad for Mary Jo today.

Christmas…

We had a Christmas Eve dinner that was really unusual for us…we had snow crab and tuna filets for Christmas Eve…my version of an Italian Seven Fishes dinner…no matter how you count them it won’t equal seven…sigh!  And I wanted to make lasagna or stuffed crepe manicotti for Christmas but we ended up with linguini in a good red sauce and meatballs…it was perfect!

Dessert!  Leave it to Weggieman’s to have the perfect holiday dessert!  Ginger Cake with Whipped Cream!  OMG!  It was tiny, too…we each had a slice and it was gone!  Poof!

Then we stayed up until midnight watching the Eagles play!  Well…Den watched…I read…fell asleep…woke up and then watched something called Dial M For Murder…with lots of English accents!

It is freezing here!  We are flanneled up and ready for our evening!  I can’t wait to get back to Diesel and Charlie!

Hugs,

Patty

I will have to check that series out. I love Maine Coon’s, but 40 lbs?! The heaviest ones are in the 25 lb. range. They have such long, shaggy fur. Their coats are very heavy, but they are not outrageous weights. Maggie is about 17 lbs. I adore Maine Coons. Bob was really amazing, and big. He was an accomplished bat hunter.
You cannot go wrong with Hitchcock! That was a good movie, though not his best. Bill is in Pittsburgh, as I comment here. He has two deliveries there. He does not like going there, just because driving a tractor-trailer is difficult with the old infrastructure. It isn’t truck-friendly.
    HUGS!

I received a cat mystery book for Christmas, now I’m more interested in reading it! I love Maine Coons. I call them maine cooney cats…lol…Your linguini dinner sounds so good and that ginger cat looks huge in the picture!

So sorry for your friend Mary Jo. Your hometown sounds a lot like the town I grew up in, only minus the cute houses. Our seven fish Christmas Eve is also down to two… shrimp cocktail and roasted lobster tails for us this year. And leave it to Wegmans to have the perfect holiday dessert! That looks so good 🙂

I seriously don’t know what I would do without Weggieman’s…I barely go into Whole Foods anymore…it’s just not the same! I think two fishes are really enough to handle! But I am going to try this Italian seafood salad for NYE…I will put a pic on my blog.

Yum, what to tackle first? The delicious meal, but I guess that dessert would be my all time favorite thing…I almost feel myself getting fatter just looking at it!

I remember Dial M for Murder…Hitchcock has some delightful oldies.

So sorry for your friend’s loss. At Christmas time, too. I can picture that home town of yours…the kind that shows up in books.

Enjoy the week! Thanks for sharing.

It would kind of show up in books! Park…Gazebo…long walks…ice skating…sledding…it could be a Hallmark movie!

Den and I always talk about our fave Christmas there…walking my parents big Weimeriner…through the town on Christmas Eve while it was snowing! I swore I heard Christmas music everywhere!

If we wore the same size shoe, you could send those Ugg boots to me. I never thought I’d want a pair but I think this is going to be a long, cold winter for us. They call for snow showers 4 times in the next 10 days. We usually don’t see that much all winter.

Isn’t it sad that we’re at the age where very few of our friends still have both of their parents?

Christmas would be a hard day to lose a parent. But how nice Mary Jo had those years before living close to her parents.
I used to buy Uggs but my daughters kept “borrowing” them …
Yay for a great cozy series!
