So…this weekend went about normally…we stayed in…my fear of flu is kind of overwhelming me. The only state that is flu free is Hawaii and I don’t think I want to fly anywhere. We were going to go out to dinner Saturday night…my first time out at night in a while but Den freaked me out about food prep in restaurants during flu season. I worry that my immune system isn’t what it should be after all that I went through last year. Thank goodness TV, books, games and puzzles entertain me. I am hoping that all of the above hold my interest for a few more weeks! That and hand sanitizer! And not touching things and not breathing! Whew!
I finished slightly south of simple over the weekend…and started the next one in this series. I guess this could be chick lit but to me it’s just good writing by a Southern writer who writes about a hugely dysfunctional family. Ansley…the mother…has done some unusual things in her marriage in order to have children. And in the first book her three daughters and their children all come home to stay with her. In the second book they are all still there…still trying to deal with their issues! I really want to live in their house…it sounds lovely, peaceful, beachy. Well perhaps not peaceful until these three daughters and their children leave!

Sunday was a huge football day…the Eagles are going to the Super Bowl! Den and I worked together and made Baked Wings…the recipe came from a blog called Brown Eyed Baker…these were totally baked in the oven and so good…in our house the spicy are separated from the sweet…heeheehee!
We also made Barbacoa Tacos…from another awesome blog called Gimme Some Oven…we opted to have ours in a bowl over Mexican Rice over black beans over cilantro over avocado slices…you get what a mean…we had a bowl not a taco…less messy and incredibly yummy!

Slightly South of Simple is on my wish list… sound like a good read. The food looks so yummy! I’ve tried a few recipes from Gimme Some Oven, but will have fun exploring Brown Eyed Baker. Glad you had a nice weekend at home 🙂

I talked to my mom the other day and she said she hadn’t been anywhere in a couple of days. I told her this was a good time for an almost 91 year old to stay home for a little while. I wouldn’t fly to Hawaii either because I’m sure the plane is full of cooties.
I’d love to see the Eagles win but New England seems to find a way to pull things out.

I’m from Massachusetts, so I don’t know if I should have read this post! haha Your football snacks look fabulous! That’s the only thing I would like about watching a football game. I’m afraid of catching the flu, also, because I was sick so much this fall, so I’m being careful too. I hadn’t heard of Kristen Woodson Harvey before; she sounds like the Southern Elin Hilderbrand, who’s wildly popular in New England. I’ll have to check her books out!

Stay safe in this flu season. I was on a plane on Sunday and can’t believe some people don’t know to cough into their elbow or arm. So rude and irresponsible. Can you tell I recently read a book set during the Spanish Influenza (100 years ago)???

We’ll actually be rooting for the Eagles, which is pretty tough for us Pittsburgh fans, but anybody is better than the Patriots.
