What I Did All Week!

First…I am exhausted…we had so many appointments this week…too many…I am not good with appointments…I like my life to be calm and relaxed.  I need to learn to go with the flow…whatever that means.  Plus…to be very honest with you…last year and all of the chemo and trauma took a huge toll on me.  I sometimes wake up afraid.  I sometimes wake up crying.  As the morning goes on I get calmer and stronger but it’s a difficult process for me.  A friend told me to have a morning plan…something special to wake up to…so I am going to try that.  He wants me to try meditating, too.  That might me difficult for me.  Can you meditate with the TV on?

Den and I watched a lot of television this week…but we never just watch TV…we do puzzles or play Hidden Folks…we race with Roxie…we soothe Lucy…and we grab our Kindles and read during commercials.  Den is reading and loving BEST DAY EVER…last night he looked at me and said Gretchen?  I knew exactly where he was in the book.  Last night, too, all four of us claimed a spot in our big bed…Roxie on the pillows behind me and Lucy watching my iPad puzzle screen.  Den on his side absorbed in his book.  Content…thank God…

Weekend foods?  I am considering these…

Fajita Steak Salad from the Kitchn…

Sauteed Beans and Greens with an egg on top from the Kitchn…

Crazy Nachos from Homesick Texan…

One Bowl Chocolate Cake from Half Baked Harvest…

Stuffed Cabbage Soup from The Recipe Critic…

Spicy Chicken Bites from the Kitchn…

Chicken With Shallots from Alexandra’s Kitchen…

Sheet Pan Roasted Mushrooms from the Kitchn…we will have these over crispy polenta…and we do live in the Mushroom Capital Of The World!

Yum!

Books…

In spite of my reluctance I read Baby Teeth…it remained weird.  I did not want to read it but it pulled me in!  Sigh!

I also read Laura And Emma…I loved this book!  An odd couple mother and daughter  but sweet and irresistible storytelling.  It’s divided by years and growth of both mother and daughter.  It’s old wealthy New York and private schools.  It’s about friends and quirky families and I just loved it!

Up next?

One of these…I think…

We have a busy football weekend because the Eagles are in the Super Bowl!  Sunday will be a long and stressful day for Den!  But he will love every minute of it!

I will be back on Monday!

Hugs,

Patty

I do not like having a lot of appointments either. I am exhausted after this week because I had school and a million things to do after work. I have a book event tomorrow, which will be fun but then I need to sleep! 🙂

Good luck meditating. I have friends that have recommended different meditating music to me- as it is supposed to help anxiety. I have tried it and it does seem to help. A friend also recommended two apps to me that she said have helped her with her anxiety because it helps retrain your brain- Insight Timer is one of them. I forget the other right now. Good luck!

I hope you enjoy the Super Bowl!

Patty, I’m glad for you that your week of appointments is over. Sounds like you have great weekend plans especially for Super Bowl Sunday. It will be the end of the football season for a while and I will miss it as I assume Den will. Have a great weekend.

Patty, Jimmy Fallon’s puppies say the Patriots are going to win the Super Bowl – tee hee. Google it, if you haven’t seen it. The pups are adorable!!

I know neither team and haven’t watched a football game since high school – I’d say about 1970. I hope Den (& you!) have a great weekend. 🙂

I won’t be watching the Superbowl, but I’m recording it and shows following it so that I won’t miss any part of This Is Us…just in case. Whenever an event might last longer than anticipated, I have to plan out how much to record.

Yes, I’m a This Is Us freak.

Those foods look very tempting. Thanks for making me want some of them. LOL.

Baby Teeth does not sound good to me, but now I’m curious.

Enjoy your weekend, and I hope you have good morning plans for next week.

Appointments can be exhausting, I have a very sick sister and I don’t know how she copes with all the medical visits, plus all the help plus all the visitors. Laura and Emma sounds good. Recently I bought The Chemistry of Calm by Henry Emmons M. D. but I can’t tell you if its any good because I haven’t read through it yet. But was recommended on the Modern Mrs Darcy website.

Hope you find a way to deal with the morning anxieties, you did survive chemo you are officially qualified to survive anything, earthquake included too 🙂
I kicked TV out of the house two or three years ago, you wouldn’t believe how it cleanses a person’s spirit, it does miracles.
All the food looks gorgeous, such stunning photos!

Thank you, Dezmond! I should think of myself as a survivor! It’s just hard. I do need to watch much less TV…but I never just watch it…I am always doing something else…but still…I should stop…heeheehee!

Oh my goodness! All the food looks so good—except the ones with cheese! Lol…I’ve had a lot of meetings and appointments too. Such a nuisance. I hate obligation. I just want to do what I like, so I feel you on that one. Glad Lucy is hanging in. Yay!!!

I hate medical appointments but don’t mind the fun ones! I thought last night’s Super Bowl was the best it’s been in years.

I hope you figure out a great morning routine to help you!

I’m sorry you still wake up with anxiety. I hope your friend’s suggestions help. I like the look of those mushrooms. I need to make this batch of them before they go bad.
