Friday’s Fancies!

So…getting right into it…

FANCY #1…

I think I read a variety of books this week…some were great and some were just ok…now I am thinking about these to read over the weekend…The Problum Children is  middle school and the Bone Witch is a fantasy…the last two are “regular” books…typically family issues and dysfunction…although Providence has been described in this way…hmmm…I might grab that one first!

“Tender, magical, and eerie . . . sure to be one of the best thrillers of the year . . . Caroline Kepnes’s infinite talent shines through.”—Mary Kubica, New York Times bestselling author of The Good Girl

FANCY #2…

After a noon appointment today we took ourselves to Victory for lunch and a brew!

Den used Lent as an excuse to eat Fish and Chips!  I had falafel and hummus and pita bread and a ton of stuff to dip everything in!  Yum!  I love things that can be dipped!  Yum!

FANCY #3…

We made it through our 4th nor’easter…just within this month!  Next week is Spring Break here so no movies or lunches out…our area will be filled with people out trying to do Spring Stuff before Easter.  We have been watching American Idol and Survivor and all of the Chicago’s…PD, MED and FIRE.  Walking, reading, resting, chatting and food prep fill up our days!  I have one scary doctor appointment on Wednesday…sigh!  But to me these check up appointments are all scary…they give me sleepless nights or restless nights and worrisome nights.  I am getting better but it’s still hard.

FANCY #4…

Speaking of restless nights…I was sleeping really soundly until 3 ish this morning when I felt tapping on my shoulder…then more gentle tapping on my face…I woke up to find Lucy tapping me because she wanted to get in bed with me…I think I was still half asleep when I pulled her in next to me and felt her little paws…she was freezing!

Lucy’s routine is so different from Roxie’s…Roxie creeps silently under covers or in our arms and we never know she is there until we all wake up together!

Surprise!

It’s been a slow week around here and everyone thinks we are all exhausted from all of our snowstorms!

Have a great weekend!

Roxie sounds very stealthy, sneaking under the covers without making her presence known. Clever!

Providence looked good until I realized that the author was the one who wrote You and Hidden Bodies…horrible books, IMO. LOL I didn’t actually finish either one…I just hated Joe so much.

The Fish ‘n’ Chips looks tempting…especially if you can dip the yummy things into malt vinegar.

    Enjoy your weekend!

Lucy is so lovely tapping you to let her into bed, hope she quickly warmed up. All your books look good and I haven’t really come across any of them before.

Ooh! I hope you liked The Bone Witch; that cover is amazing! I requested it on Overdrive. You know I love a good witch story. Can I come live and you and be able to eat out most of the time? Having to cook for a family is work. I didn’t know a kitty’s paws could get cold; I know, I know, that’s a stupid thought. No booties out there in the market for kitty paws?

There are…little knitted booties but I am afraid mine would nibble on them…yarn is too tempting…even though they have a big kitty heating pad on my chair that they have taken over…their tiny little paws get icy cold…that’s when they move to our bed…there is nothing in the world like a warm soft Tonk sleeping next to you…I guess yo have to love cats but ours are so tiny and soft and sweet…and Lucy and Roxie always smell so good…they smell like my perfume!

I’ve read somewhere than cats tap your face while you’re sleeping because they think you’re dead. Makes sense. I’d rather expect mine would dance not just tap 🙂
I do love me a falafel, and also wafflafel (the name copyrighted by me) which is when you bake it in waffle iron 🙂

Oooh that sounds good..I had some more falafels today…for lunch…I would believe that about cat tapping! But mine just want us up and playing…or foot holding to get them warm.

I think a snow storm would seriously wipe me out. Don’t you have to prep for them? Supplies? Do things to the house and plants? We had a week of rain and it was glorious. Now, it’s chilly but the air is so crisp and clean. Really lovely.

I am craving fish… still. I’ve had so much of it and yet the craving continues. I love to dip too. I am a sauce gal. My daughter eats everything plain including salad and it drives me nuts but it’s probably pretty healthy to not add 40g of fat to your salad like I do.

Wow…plain…salad..that’s hard to do! She is a purist! We were pretty much prepped for snow so we just snacked and sipped tea and read and watched tv…sometimes snow is fun!
