Seriously? We sat outside on the BLAZING deck for about 10 minutes…at minute 11 we couldn’t take it any more…we couldn’t breathe…the air was thick…the air was heavy…but…we made the three treacherous steps back into the house and into the chilling cooling AC! Whew! Safety! Lemonade! TV!
But seriously I finished 2 books and almost 1/2 of this one…this one is so funny and sweet and perfect for an EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING!
Plus we finally watched Thor…Ragnarok. This movie is said to be the funniest of all the Marvel movies. That tongue in cheek funny that is surprising and refreshing in an over the top fantasy thriller where lots of people get stabbed and beheaded. Oh…and blown up, too! Jeff Goldblum is in this movie…Cate Blanchett…Matt Damon…the director plays the rock guy…this movie is funny…have I overstated funny?…tongue in cheek fast paced funny! Plus I got to stare at Chris Hemsworth for 2 hours…even sometimes when he only had one eye…sigh! Laurel-Rain? Is it worth a try?
Well..in case you have been wondering which comfy Free People Tunic-y thing I bought…I bought all three…they are so cute…I wore the black one with jean leggings to dinner on Saturday night…kind of Capri length jeans…but really you can toss these on with anything…they were on sale but only for a short time! I had to snap them up!
Book business! We are down to the business of books!
Newly acquired from NetGalley…and St. Martin’s Press…
A rich, genre-spanning, breathtaking novel about one mother’s quest to save her child, unite her family, and believe in the unbelievable. Diane Chamberlain pushes the boundaries of faith and science to deliver a novel that you will never forget.
From Random House…
Two divorced parents. Their daughter. Their new partners. A family holiday…of sorts. What could possibly go wrong?
From Disney-Hyperion…one of my middle grade lovelies!
G-baby and her younger sister, Peaches, are still getting used to their “blended-up” family. They live with Mama and Frank out in the suburbs, and they haven’t seen their real daddy much since he married Millicent. G-baby misses her best friend back in Atlanta, and is crushed that her glamorous new stepsister, Tangie, wants nothing to do with her…
From Mandel Vilar Press…
Inspired by real Holocaust events, this poignant debut novel is a powerful coming-of-age story that will resonate with fans of The Book Thief and Between Shades of Gray.
And this book…one I don’t have…yet! But that I really really really want! Perhaps St. Martin’s Press is listening to my cry?
A riveting tour de force” — Kirkus (Starred Review)
“Summers has pulled no punches when it comes to diving into the darker side of teen lives.” —Bustle
“Sadie: a novel for readers of any age, and a character as indelible as a scar. Flat-out dazzling.”–A.J. Finn, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Woman in the Window
Okie dokie…we just had the rest of yesterday’s yummy frittata for breakfast and a biscuit with honey…not a normal weekday breakfast…and today I have to walk…in the house…and try out our new Pilates Chair…Susan Lucci better be right about this chair…
Have a great day!

We haven’t had it quite that hot but I’ve still been enjoying our air conditioned inside. Looks like you got a nice assortment of books too. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

Thank you, Kathy! I did stay in all day…and mostly read but I randomly found this old movie on TV and I had to watch it to the end where I naturally cried! On my way to see your week!

We had the same weather for a few days and then late yesterday afternoon storms blew in and left us with lower humidity and temps at least 10 degrees lower. Hope it makes it to your area soon! Those tops look so comfy and cute. And books that are new to me (except one). Enjoy!

Thank you! We are supposed to get that weather by the end of the week…hopefully!

We were in triple digits all weekend…but we’re kind of used to it. I hosed down my patio in the morning, when it was still cool, and let a little water get on me, too. Today it is supposed to be 99, which should feel almost cool.
I have The Dream Daughter waiting to be read, but since the release date is 10/2, I will not be reading it yet.
Enjoy your new tunics…and your books and movies.

Thank you! I won’t be reading that book any time sooner either. Running under the hose sounds like fun! Is that how you did it?

I’m in Southwestern PA and it is HOT! We’re trying to stay cool. I’m getting ready to curl up in front of the AC and read 🙂 Staring at Chris Hemsworth for 2 hours is quite the treat. I enjoyed that movie. I hope you can stop by:

I wish I had your sense of style – I just dress like an old woman.
We’re getting a little break from the heat today which is good because we had to have the downstairs a/c worked on this morning.

I hope you’re able to stay cool. Extreme heat is not fun. I need that tunic in my life. I hate tight clothes, especially in summer. Enjoy your new books. Have a great week!

Ha that’s funny… but so true! It’s been so hot and humid so many places, seems like. We’ve had some of it too. AC is a total lifesaver.
Glad you liked Thor: Ragnarok! I did too.
Sadie looks good.

ten minutes on a blazing hot deck is probably 9 minutes and 58 seconds more than I’d personally handle 🙂
I don’t do pooperheroes, as you know, but I did watch Ragnarok due to it having three of my greatest loves Blanchett, Hiddles and Karl Urban, it was OK, but nothing special as all other Marvel’s movies.

Now that’s where you and I are totally different! But I still love you! I loved Loki, too…was he the mean vamp in Twilight? Seeing the ridiculous Antman on Monday…I don’t know if I love the movies or the actual theatre…the big plushy seats and the biggest carton of popcorn ever!

Ooh, I really like that olive green one. My husband loved that Thor movie; he watched it over and over again. When the house is 74-76° we turn on the air. I did at 76.

The green one is pretty awesome. I am watching Thor again right now…Did he hear about the six hidden jokes in that movie?
