I just finished this book and it was lovely. I love books that take place in Maine. This one takes place in North Harbor, Maine and has lovely quirky characters, lots of food descriptions, great writing and a cat named Elvis who relaxes by watching Jeopardy every evening. I guess it could be called a cozy mystery but it had lots of substance. I enjoyed it so much that I am reading the first one, too. I most likely will read all of the books in this series. It’s that good!
I want to focus on reading these books this week. I mean actually reading them and not switching to something else. That’s my goal.
It is a relatively calm week as far as chemo issues are concerned. I won’t have another one until the Monday after Thanksgiving. I am learning that the roughest parts of this chemo are within the first two weeks. And they seem to change constantly. The most consistent thing is that I am just not hungry. I have no appetite at all but I try to eat. Sweet things? I can’t handle them…they taste sweeter to me. I crave eggs, apples and pickles…and certain meats…it’s very strange. I also crave this chicken soup that our local Chinese chef makes every day. He took Den into his kitchen and showed him the huge pot that he uses to make his stock. When it’s done it’s delicious. He will serve it with rice or really long noodles! I love the long noodles. The soup is actually restorative for me! Yum!
Some new books…both of these are from Berkeley…
Both of these are from Frontlist…
It’s really cold here today…there was a slight chance of snow!

I love the look of that soup…and the cozy mysteries are calling to me. I have had trouble sticking to the books I start reading…but I think I could hang in with a cozy mystery.
Although I did finish a domestic thriller yesterday (Her Pretty Face).
On the Same Page looks good.
I hope you enjoy the week.

The soup with long noodles is so delicious. I think you might like this series. I started with #5 but I was only confused by one thing. I just bought #1…
The characters were really fun and interesting.

Is it just the time of year? I hate finishing a book because it’s so hard to find a next one.

Ooh, a new Susan Meissner book! And I love a Maine setting. My son-in-law is from there and we used to go each summer for (a way too short) week. That’s how he and our daughter met. I’ll keep the cozy series in mind.

I’m glad you can enjoy Thanksgiving before you have to have another treatment. Who doesn’t love chicken soup when they’re not at their best?

It’s cold here today too. We were stacking firewood outside and even that exertion didn’t warm me up enough.:-)

Nothing beats a good bone broth. It’s scientifically proven to be healthful.
Soup would be amazing right now. It’s windy and cold and for some reason our office is super cold today too. I have a blanket and it’s still cold.
I have stuff to take care of here at work but all I want to do is get my shopping list taken care of. Not gonna happen until at least Thursday and even the week of Thanksgiving I will be headed to Whole Foods for produce and hopefully pies. I missed them last year.

It feels awesome when lists are done…doesn’t it. Our country butcher makes a bone broth that is so delicious. I need some now!

Those cat cozies sound great, I love books set in Maine too, just sounds such a great place. Hope the other books work out, don’t waste time on them if they don’t! The chicken broth looks perfect for you and the cold weather. I have enjoyed some of Karen Rose’s previous books – lots of action!
