It’s Christmas All Week!

My way to get through a Holiday Week up to the actual Holiday…in this case Christmas…is to make lists.  I have 2 lists going right now…detailed lists that will get us through Christmas flawlessly…hopefully.  The lists are fun and just things we think we want to get and stuff we want to do.  After all…we will be without a store for an entire day…oh my!  So…we are checking our lists…even more than twice!  We kind of stick to our traditional menus and traditions.  We try to do a little bit of both of our families styles for Christmas Eve.  Sometimes we go out to dinner…sometimes we get lobster and shrimp and crab and pierogis.  We combine two cultures and have Hungarian cookies and pizzelles for dessert.  That’s actually combining three cultures.  Over the years we have simplified all of these traditions and it’s still sort of new to us that we stay here for Christmas.  It was always my parents house with everyone home.  But those days are gone and we are all on our own.

Books!

I finished this book…about a missing daughter and what has happened to her family during all of the time she has been gone.  Her father has a new family while her mother has totally fallen apart.  This book was really really absorbing, sad, and frustrating.

I think I am going to focus on these library books for the next week or so…fantasies and mysteries and ones I haven’t had the chance to read…yet.  This is my time for mystery and fantasy.  Plus a few days of selfishly reading what I want to read.  I love the Flavia de Luce books so much!  Such a spunky detective!

Den found my missing red coat!  It was buried in a Christmas bin!  And I found a new pair of handwarmers that I didn’t take the tags off from last Christmas.  Den buys these from the Sundance Catalogue and they are hand knitted…I have a yummy collection of these!

Here is my red coat…just waiting for me and an outing…I have a red beanie, too!  I wish it would snow.  Oh…I was wrong about the truck…the truck is on another coat I have that is just like this one only not red.  How could I forget that?  Probably because I haven’t seen my red coat in a long time!

The girls like to be dressed in red for their annual holiday portrait, too!  Here they are!

Have a great Wednesday!

Your Christmas plans sound wonderful! Glad you found your red coat; it is so cute! Those kitties look so adorable in red plaid.

Sophie Last Seen is calling to me…I’ll bet you got it from Edelweiss! Sigh.

    Enjoy! Thanks for sharing.

What a fun jacket. And I love the hand warmers. I’ve been knitting mittens for gifts which has kept me busy the past few weeks. Love the girls’ holiday pic too 🙂

Yes Christmas holiday traditions change as our parents leave us, its just the way. I’ll join my sister’s household in the afternoon/evening. Last year it was my place. As food is not my thing I am low key on that. Love the red coat, here’s hoping for snow and a good warm wearing of it.

I can’t believe Christmas is almost here. I have a bunch of lists and I’m happy to report they’re mostly checked off. I have to go to the grocery store (tomorrow, I hope) and then I’ll be read.

I love your coat and the Sundance catalog!

So glad you found your jacket! I’m a list maker, too, and have a few that I’d be lost without at this point… menus, groceries, other tasks. I’m finally starting to feel better this morning and ready to start tackling a few. Thankful for a couple of light, fun reads at the beginning of the week though.

    I love the red coat.

I am catching up on blog stuff. Everyone is out of the house and I’ve yet to get dressed for the day. I am not planning to do anything today except maybe clean out a closet. I just cannot sit still. Tonight we have Christmas service. I have yet to buy food stuff because it’s too early to pick up a rib roast.

How wonderful that you combine your traditions and that what you do changes a little each year. I will be eating lots of pierogis on Christmas Eve at my mother-in-law’s house. 🙂 Yum!

The coat looks cozy and festive.

Sophie Last Seen sounds very intriguing.

Can’t believe Christmas is just about here! WOW!

    Merry Christmas!
