Lasagna & Books…

We are making lasagna for dinner today and it’s not even Thursday…my family’s traditional Pasta Thursday.  This is a very simple lasagna that involves oven ready lasagna noodles, ricotta cheese, fresh mozzarella cheese, Parmesano Reggiano cheese and my trusty LaVictoria sauce from Costco.  We had this same lasagna about a week or so ago but Den bought doubles of everything…not so that we would have it again but because he worries that I will need more than what is actually on the list or the amounts look smallish to him so he buys more.  This time he accidentally bought enough to make the same lasagna again.  So we will make it again.  It’s actually kind of a dump and layer lasagna that comes out really great.  I make it in a squarish pan so it’s not huge…it’s cheesy Italian comfort food at its easiest.

Books…

I just finished this and have no idea what to read next.  I hate when this happens…and it happens a lot…I never really know what I want to read next.

I sort of started this…

b64975e8-99d4-49ab-800a-3480191c5df9

Because I want to read the trilogy…which consists of these…

But I should be reading this…

And I really want to read this…now…

I have not been able to get these…and I want them badly!

I still have an obsession with Murder She Wrote…it was off for over a month but now it’s back…there are 4 every night and I DVR them and watch them all!

I am obsessed with Wordchums/Chumps…I play 8 games with Den, 5 with my sister in law, 1 with Steph my blogger buddy and 1 with someone named Bonnie whom I don’t really know.  I love this game and I can’t beat anyone except Den and that’s only occasionally.  But…I don’t play with a good strategy…I like to think of a word fast and move on to the next game…that’s my personality…Kathy, Steph and Bonnie beat me constantly and consistently.  Kathy had a 128 point word yesterday!

Off to watch my first of the day Murder She Wrote!

Yum! I love lasagna, and yours sounds soooo good. I don’t even know any really good Italian restaurants near me. I could Google them, but that’s not the same as “knowing” what’s good.

After thinking I was done with the downloading of books yesterday, I “clicked to buy” Late in the Day. I hope I enjoy it. I read Clever Girl by this author and didn’t like it very much. I have another of her books on Paige, still unread (The London Train). I keep trying to give her chances.

So…the blurb did sound enticing…and you enjoyed it, although we don’t always love the same books. LOL. I’m going to take a leap of faith.

    Enjoy your day!

I did love this book…And we don’t always like the same books but we like some of the same books. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you with this one. This lasagna is so easy and makes such a manageable amount that you could do it! I know you could…if you ever wanted to!

Now you have me thinking about lasagna. I can get gluten free noodles from one market I go to but I have to go to that specific market to find them. I have leftover spaghetti and meatballs for lunch. Ones I made two weekends ago with my gourmet GF crumbs. Might even taste better today. It’s raining so warm, comfort food sounds good.

Patty, you’ll have to post the details on your lasagna recipe: cheese amounts needed, what kind of noodles, cooking times etc. This sounds like a simple easy recipe to put together for a quick dinner…and I love 💕 lasagna and pasta dishes.
You could create a, Patty & Den Love ❤️ To Eat cookbook of all the recipes you post here 😁

aubiea…you are so sweet! The recipe is so easy but it’s only as good as the sauce…I use a large jar of LaVictoria…a ball of mozzarella, and a large container of a really good ricotta…I do mix the ricotta with dried Italian parsley and an egg and a big handful of a really good grated Italian cheese. I use Barilla no cook noodles and I just layer everything. Extra grated cheese on the top is always good! Bake at 350 or 375 until it’s bubbling! I hope this helps…I sort of made this up when I saw someone make it on TV. Any good sauce that you love will work…I use Rao’s sometimes, too.

Patty, what were your favorite items to buy at Costco?
Food52 had an article about Top10 Things Busy Moms buy at Costco , but I liked the ones Den & you bought…I think they were all food items like the spaghetti sauce, cheese??
I may go and compare prices with Costco here.

Actually not Italian greens just a mix of greens, and we just started buying their wild caught salmon…and their avocados…if I remember anything else I will add to this list. Have fun shopping!

I can’t remember the last time I made lasagna and now I’m wondering why we don’t have it more often. We’re having a dinner party Sunday so I spent the morning making mini cheesecakes – I made a basic recipe and divided the batter and added adjuncts so we’ll 3 different kinds of cheesecake. I hope they turn out well. I think I need to download Wordchums.

Oooh…if you love word games you will love wordchums…it’s like a fast scrabble game plus you can play with chumbots and have fun on your own. It’s a game you can go to any time you feel like it. I think lasagna can be complicated…but this cheesy one that I make is incredibly simple. You can even make it way ahead of time and bake it later. Yummy to all of those cheesecakes. I see a lot of cooking in your weekend!

Sales for lasagna ingredients just received a big bump from your post 😀
I need to read about The Dreamers. I’ve noticed a lot of buzz lately but haven’t taken the time to check it out. Hope you manage to snag it!

Hmm I have The Bear and the Nightingale on my radar but didn’t realise its part of a trilogy. I really like Karen Rose’s suspense and that’s on my radar too, usually creepy but compulsive reading.
