Samples! Books! Snow!

I still think of blog titles as bulletin boards…as a teacher of second graders I would dream of catchy bulletin board titles constantly!  Big black bold letters and exclamation points…my signature!  So…my blog titles are actually mini bulletin boards to me now.  Actually my blog posts are like mini bulletin boards!

Anyway…I got all of my Nordstrom’s samples and some!  If you are looking for a fresh light fragrance I would urge you to try Jo Malone Perfumes.  Lucy and Roxie even smell like forest and sage!  Yum!  Roxie helped me sort through them yesterday!

This morning I had an email from Linette at Harlequin Mira.  She sent me all of the books that were in the ALA Grab bag in Seattle a few weeks ago…yummy yummy delicious wonderful books.  I am reading this from that batch o’ books…it’s another one of those twisty turny books with those unbelievably dysfunctional characters that I love.  The idea  of the book is that this GF has been dropped by her BF but she won’t give up on their relationship.  She stalks him and even becomes a flight attendant because he is a pilot.  She spends time in his (formerly their) apartment when he is on overseas flights.  It’s another creepy good book!  Perfect for today because we are snow locked in all day!  My only plan is to finish it before the snow ends…which may happen because I can not put it down!  I have to wonder sometimes why this kind of book appeals to me so much…hmmm…I probably shouldn’t wonder too much about this…should I?

This snow storm is supposed to be a mess…and then it will be in the 50’s tomorrow.

Den and I need to be creative about cooking today.  We have a cauliflower and a cabbage and a huge bag of organic greens from Costco.  I hate to waste them.  But I have no clue what to do with them…a food challenge!  I think I will roast the cauliflower and toss it with pasta…and grated Italian cheeses and garlic.  Or make cauliflower Mac & Cheese…or I could just look at them for a day or two more and hope for some veggie inspiration.  What I am really hungry for is a hot dog…organic and nitrate free…of course!  I have not eaten nitrates for so long…I don’t even know what they taste like any more!

Oh, yes, books that take us in our mind and our imagination to places we haven’t experienced. Thoughts we have only wondered about… just to see what it would be like living those lives.

The “badder” the better, since we don’t dare go there IRL.

Although it is possible to imagine a different life, and then jump off the edge and go for it. I did that in the 70s. Everything afterwards was different. Then I wrote about some of those “lives” in my six novels.

I do like the titles with “perfect” that keep showing up, and I’m always drawn to those books.

Enjoy your food choices. I have a recipe for lentil soup I want to try in my slow cooker. I bought the lentils, now I have to gather the other ingredients from the store, since all of my spices are expired. And I need other things, too, like potatoes, carrots, onions, etc. I’m actually looking forward to it. More later.

I’ll take the samples and books but you can keep the snow! It’s cold and wet here and that’s more than enough for me.

I’m jealous of your tote bag of books. The Perfect Girlfriend sounds fantastic! By the way, I’m reading Before She Knew Him by Peter Swanson and that makes me think of you.
