When I was teaching second grade I always called Friday…Fab Fun Friday. My students had to earn a certain number of points during the week in order to have FFF…it didn’t have to be elaborate…it could be 10 minutes of extra recess or a fun art project or a messy science project. I carry over this idea of Friday being a fun day into our present every day lives…Friday is always a fun movie day or an out to lunch day or a fun dinner day…if Den earns the right number of points he gets to play golf! Teasing! Maybe! Heeheehee…
Discoveries…
I am still exploring Britbox. I sort of stumbled upon this series called Maigret…pronounced May Gray. It was so good. It takes place in Paris and Maigret is a Chief Detective looking for the man who brutally killed four women. It’s dark and psychological and I thought it was brilliant…but I just read that it was cancelled so…so much for that! The funny thing about this deep dark cranky detective is that he is Mr. Bean from the Mr. Bean comedies! Who knew?
Books…
Now I am reading four books…no clue why. I spent a few hours yesterday organizing review books by months…finally…so I am reasonably organized. This is what I am reading now…it’s good…really good. I am such a mood reader…until I feel guilty about being a mood reader. Sigh!
Weekend foods…
We really don’t eat meat daily but yesterday I was craving stuffed pork chops…the kind that Danny The Butcher makes at Country Butcher…they are massive! The plan was to have them tonight but we have a high winds, storms and heavy rains forecast so a power outage is possible. So…just in case we have Country Butcher’s Chicken Salad as a back up. These pix are not from my Country Butcher. ( except for the entry one ) The stuffed chops have to be coated in Frying Magic…a seasoning mix my mom always used…lightly browned and then baked in broth in the oven. The chicken salad just goes on top of an artisanal salad mix.
Frying Magic is magical! My sister sends it or brings it to me because I can’t find it here. It’s a taste of home. My dad did fish fries with it, too! Yum!
Have a safe weekend! We were just issued a tornado watch until 9:00 tonight…yikes!
See you on Monday!

Funny how we have high winds and storm here tonight as well a continent away 🙂 I just wanted to open the windows right now, as it is evening here, to cool down the house as it has been 36*C here, but the winds are so strong outside that I decided not to as it smells like terrible storm. It’s Orthodox Easter here this weekend. Hope no tornado hits you tonight!

I hope you escape storms, too. Winds here freak me out! It is odd that we are having sort of twin weather systems. Any special foods for Easter? Besides chocolate eggs. My aunt used to do those amazing wax designed dyed Easter eggs…I can’t remember their special names?

We survived! No tornadoes just heavy winds. How did your weather go?

Glad to hear it, it was OK here too in the end, we just had a 20*C degrees temp drop from yesterday’s 35*C to today’s rainy 15*C 🙂
We use wax too in egg dying, but traditionally we just stick a piece of some interesting leaf or flower to an egg, tie the egg up in a piece of nylon stocking and then cook it in the pot filled with onion husks (brown or red, depends what colour you want). When they dry up, we grease them with some oil for a nice shine and that’s it. Boiled red cabbage is for bluish eggs.

That sounds awesome. Aren’t the wax ones called pachinki eggs?

I love that idea of fun Friday, and I love the idea of carrying it over into your own life. Has put me thinking. We teachers!! I laughed a big chuckle over the golf, thank you for a laugh which is always welcome. I say be a mood reader – its who you are in that moment. Nice organising your books for reading though, gives a feeling of being somewhat in control!!

My Fab Fun Friday’s really worked…the kids could see a goal and liked earning points as a group…don’t you think our teacher parts never really go away? I think I mentioned that my favorite quilts…the ones I have made…look like bulletin boards. I am still going to photograph all of them for you…soon…Den is happy that he gave you a chuckle!

I tried to leave a comment earlier, from my iPhone, but it didn’t work. I had to wait to get on my laptop and Google Chrome. Sigh.
I love the look of your food…and I can’t wait to get my hands on Such a Perfect Wife.
Enjoy your weekend.

Fab Fun Friday sounds neat! We all need a little motivation or freedom to cut loose and have fun, I think, and what better day than a Friday? 🙂
Mr Bean in a darker role! Wow I’m intrigued!
Hope the pork chops were good. And that the weather wasn’t too bad!

Weather was better than predicted…put off chops until today. Greg, if you love dark and intense and extremely well done you will love Maigret! There are only two seasons…I have one episode left…each episode is a different crime!

They did…probably too much. I got invited to every birthday party! We didn’t get the fierce winds…just lots of rain and it’s much cooler.
