Is it ok if life is just ordinary? I think so! I just want our lives to run smoothly for as long as possible. If something unusual happens Den and I can get really excitable. When my 21 year old Lucy seems to run into things…I worry. When she sits in the center of our room…I try not to freak out. If she doesn’t eat her breakfast…we watch her for hours or try another food. I guess I just want her to be at peace until her time comes. Can you ever prepare yourself for the death of a beloved pet? If things seem off even sweet Roxie seems to watch Lucy closely. We are all on edge until our normal envelopes us again. We breathe a big sigh and pray for just a tiny bit more of our togetherness. Sigh!
I am still reading this book. But it makes me nervous. Something bad is going to happen to this big lovely Irish family! Each chapter is filled with the thought that something awful is about to happen. I literally have to stop after each chapter just to get a grip! The writing is lovely. The characters…other than the really bad guys…delightful! But…the secrets…OMG.
I actually started this one thinking it would be a fun escape from Jane Street. But I was wrong. It’s so sad and now I can’t stop reading it, either!
I hope you are having a happier reading week than I am in store for…
Patty
Quiet and ordinary are good! We’re really busy right now, but it’s mostly a good busy.
I’m reading a non-fiction book about generic drugs so my reading week is disturbing too.

That would be a difficult book for me to read!

Ah yes all for quiet and ordinary. Oh dear two gripping but somewhat dark and sad books, you need the next one to be one that provides laughs!

I’ve lived long enough that I aspire to quiet and ordinary. Sending good thoughts for Lucy.

This sounds like a bad mix of books… I’m sure there must be something a little lighter and more fun in your stack? Quiet and ordinary is definitely under-rated. Sending good vibes for Lucy.

Thanks! I need a few lightweight choices. Lucy is much better.

I have read books like that when I have to keep stopping because I am worried. Hope you can read something lighter next. 🙂 I am always appreciative of the calm days!

I need something lighter even though that book was soooo good!

I lost my cat Ignatius a few months ago, then his wife Snezhana seems to have lost their babies, and now her sister Hilbert brought as a little kitten that looks just like late Ignatius and his grandmother Grozdana The Great, the founder of the dynasty! It seems he sired kids with both sisters before leaving us. Life goes on it seems.

It does…so sorry about Ignatius.

Hope your reading isn’t too stressful! 🙂 Books can have that effect, for sure.
As others have said, quiet and ordinary is good. I like quiet and ordinary!

I’m really interested in that Cullen book, Patty! I loved her last one. I hope you have plenty more great days with your sweet doggie. It is so terribly hard watching them age. ♥️

I should have know that, Patty! I’m a cat person, too, and I think cats tend to live longer than dogs. ♥️

I love quiet and ordinary. Wish I had more of it.
I know Lucy is worrying you but she certainly doesn’t want that.
I haven’t been able to read too much because I have been helping my daughter with these summer classes. College classes for her are no joke and there is just so much reading and she is not a reader.

I know…sometimes I think she is pushing her frail body too hard just to stay with us.
