A Little Bit Of Redecorating!

We had a fun lunch today with a visit from my niece and her family and our first meeting with her 2 year old.  Our house is filled with our collections…I have carved wooden ducks and bunnies and horses tucked on end tables and coffee tables.  I have candles.  I have an antique wagon filled with antique blocks.  In the summer I change my collections to summery things…shells, hand carved boats, buoys from Maine, seashells, beach rocks…hand carved colorful fish from Maine…I have a hand made standing kitty with a set of fish dangling in his mouth.  As Den said…our house is Disneyland for a toddler.  And…our visiting toddler played with everything!  She even carried Roxie around!  It was fun and it was easy to put everything back after our visit…but…we are exhausted!   As we were sitting down chatting our adorable visiting toddler brought many things from various parts of the house to us at the table.  She carried in some things that were bigger than she was!  Did I mention that we are exhausted?  We are!

I decided to have a salad assortment for lunch…we had a steak salad, a chicken salad and a tomato salad that I found on a blog called Cup Of Jo…it was actually a salad from Mark Bittman and it was a platter of local sliced tomatoes, some grape tomatoes, basil and a sprinkling of  really good balsamic vinegar and a really good olive oil.  But the best part of the salad was the crouton part.  I made two really good grilled cheese sandwiches.  I used a really good sharp cheddar and a really good sour dough bread.  You cool the grilled cheese and then dice it.  and toss it on the salad!  It was really good!

I want to make this over the weekend…it’s from a blog called Proud Italian Cook!

Reading these…both are good but Ghosted has my attention just a little bit more than The Other Woman…for now.

My plan is to finish both and start this one…

We have had a really busy 2 weeks…there has been something going on every day.  I want to stay in over the weekend, read and finally learn how to play this game with Den…our visiting toddler showed us how!

I haven’t had any toddlers in my house for years! My youngest grandchild is almost 16. But I remember when some of the grandkids were toddlers (especially the stairstep ones who are now 20, 21, and 23); they were definitely a handful. There were three of them under three.

Ghosted is a book I have tucked away and hope to enjoy. Have a great weekend.

Oh Rain…your house would be a toddler’s delight, too. We loved the visit but I had to “take to my bed with a good book.” I am truly loving Ghosted!

Don’t you think our conversations about books would be lively? Over coffee or over a Cosmopolitan at Mimi’s?

It was…I am making it again today…there is really no recipe. I had really good local tomatoes…the kind that are different colors…and I sliced them as thin as I could, then Wegman’s thin sliced sourdough and their sliced sharp cheddar from the deli… nothing but a plain buttery grilled cheese! You have to make this! It’s in a list called Mark Bittman’s 100 easy salads…but you can google the list!

I love duck and horse figurines too! Ducks and chicks guard my bookshelves! And a set of three ‘speak no evil see no evil hear no evil’ owls guard my coffee table! I don’t like lil’ kiddos in the house, though…. not my cup of tea LOL

Toddlers are so much fun. They are so unpredictable too. In a good way.
I have Ghosted on hold. Everyone seems to be reading it or talking about it. I love a good buzz book.
