So…here is the chicken story. Maybe I haven’t bought a whole chicken in a while. Maybe I forgot that usually I buy whole organic free range chickens at Trader Joe’s and I don’t remember what I pay for them. But I wanted to roast a chicken with sweet little carrots and onions and baby potatoes and fresh garlic surrounding it. I wanted a moist juicy yummy roasted chicken on a sheet pan. I got all of that but it cost $23.72! Yikes! When I asked Den…the actual chicken fetcher…if he wanted to pay $23.72 for one small chicken…he stammered and stuttered and cast his eyes downward and said he wasn’t sure! That’s the end of my chicken story. I am not even sure that there is enough leftover chicken for chicken sandwiches today…sigh!
I am still not finished with my yummy book…but it’s so good…and the girls…the heroines…are finally coming together to overpower the bad guys…I love that kind of story.
I literally am reading at a snail’s pace this week. It is taking me forever to read Spinning Silver…usually I zip through fantasies like this one! I am also discovering that all of a sudden I read more on the weekends…especially now that I sleep really well at night. I don’t usually wake up and read in the middle of the night the way I used to even though I sleep with my glasses and my Kindle next to me. Usually I fall asleep reading with Roxie nestled in my overhead pillows…we each sleep with four pillows but Roxie sleeps on two of mine. Lucy sleeps next to me and Den is somewhere in this mix…along with my Kindle. I am not sure I could fall asleep without my Kindle.
So…I am determined to start one of these today…and get another one done over the weekend.
Den is suddenly not sleeping well and he doesn’t do well when he sleeps poorly. We are going to try SleepyTime Tea tonight and see if that helps. I think we need SleepTime Extra!
Off to read…what do you do if you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t fall back to sleep? Does reading help?

I loved Believe Me…and I’m curious about The Other Woman. When my reading slows down to a crawl, I know it’s time to change up my genre. From thrillers to books about relationships; a few memoirs (I know you hate those!), and some comedy.
As you know, I don’t like fantasy or very many YA books…but I might even try those if I am really stuck. Probably not, though. LOL.
I feel sad for Den, picking up that pathetic chicken at that price. LOL.
Have a great week.

SleepyTime looks soooo cute! I bet it has camomile in it! I do ever so adore me tea, but I usually hate American blends as they like to put sweet root in everything…. makes it taste unnatural 😦

I hope this one doesn’t! I hate sweet!

Laughed at your chicken story, I do hope it was juicy and yummy and lovely and then who cares about the price! I hope Den gets back into sleep, ah I think that it is one of the worst things. Me, I don’t hold much faith in sleepy tea!

Poor Den! The chicken and loss of sleep, too. It was a delicious chicken…

I didn’t sleep well last night. I’ll look for sleepy time. Your books look very suspenseful and good! Right now I’m watching Martha Stewart selling wine and food on QVC 😀

Isn’t she funny doing that? She sold hamburgers a while ago. I would never buy it but it’s fascinating to watch. On her hamburger day she sold hot dogs wrapped in puff pastry, too! And sweet pastry on the same day. With David…

I don’t pay attention to what any groceries cost but I know I should. I usually don’t sleep well and will get up to read. I’m not sure it helps me fall back to sleep but it’s better than staring at the ceiling.

I don’t pay attention either until I notice a $23.00 chicken. Then I wonder where I have been…

When Costco chickens are so cheap and so tasty, it’s hard to justify a $24 chicken but it’s even more out here. I bought one the other day and it was $29 and change. I wasn’t looking. I thought that was for something else.

I guess it happens…I know what you mean…a rotisserie chicken from Wegman’s or Costco tastes even better than mine did.

Wow! Was it roasted already?

I wanted to add that I could have gone out to dinner and has a really nice chicken meal, cooked for me, and paid less.

I know. I truly don’t know how this happened. It was our local country butcher but that still doesn’t make it better. When I looked at the price I couldn’t believe it.

Meat- like good, quality meat, preferably organic- is expensive now! Yikes. I totally hear you.
I love those Sleepy Time boxes!

Aw, poor Den. Reading helps me although I usually go on my phone to empty out my brain. I buy the 2-pack of organic chicken from Costco. They’re about 5 lbs each.
