Here Comes The Sun?

Everyone around here is saying the same thing…that this is one of the rainiest summers ever!  Today there is sun but it’s going to rain again soon.  Yesterday it rained most of the day…it was a beautiful cleansing rain but it really poured.  It rained so hard and so often that doing anything outside on Saturday or Sunday was impossible.  All of my flowers are either growing bountifully or drowning!  The first photo is from the family room…a glimpse at yesterday’s dreariness…the second photo is one of the marigolds under the deck…overgrowing their pots!  We can’t keep up with weeds.  We haven’t watered anything.  Yesterday morning Den said there was a sea bird on our deck railing.  Yikes!

Den and I loved watching Acorn TV over the weekend…faves were Agatha Raisin, Vera, and something called Loch Ness.  All were filmed either in beautiful villages or breathtaking seaside ones.  There is just something special about a good English mystery.  Some of these were cozy…some were chilling…all were great fun!  Whatever crime Agatha Raisin is working on…she is always wearing very high heels!

Finished this and it was magnificent!

I was so excited to almost read three books last week…but I am not sure why…probably due to the weather.  One night we turned off the tv and just read…it was wonderful.

Not sure what I will read this week…perhaps one of these?  And I am trying to find the book that has a little girl wearing red shoes on the cover…I know I have it but it’s sort of lost on my Kindle!  Oh where oh where can it be?

I really want this IKEA chaise or chair and ottoman for our bedroom…I have wanted this forever but Den is not fond of IKEA furniture…but for our bedroom I think it would be fine.  For some odd reason these two cuties have decided that our bed is also their bed!  I am the odd man out when we come upstairs to watch TV at night!  In their little kitty heads whatever is mine is theirs!  I am incapable of moving them! Sigh!

We were planning on a walk at Longwood Gardens today but I am off to the treadmill…it’s clouding over and looking gloomy outside as I write!

I loved The Death of Mrs. Westaway…and I’ll be reading The Dream Daughter soon.

Enjoy your rain…it sounds wonderful to me right now.

The Agatha Raisin series looks promising, too; I also enjoy an English mystery, set in any of the villages or by the sea. Cornwall is a lovely setting.

    Have a great week.

Did you watch the movie called The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society on Netflix? Starts a bit slow, but then really good. I think you’d like it. By the way, I love the chairs. You get a yes vote from me!👍🏼❤️ Sorry Den!

I’ve read really positive reviews from at least 2 bloggers about Where the Crawdads Sing.

We’ve been using the same Billy bookcases (from Ikea) for the last 30 years and they still look great. Also, I bought my daughter a patio chaise there in the late ’90s and she’s still using it. Sorry, Den, my vote is also ‘yea’ to the Ikea furniture.

So glad you loved Rush. I have a couple of the author’s earlier books on my kindle – need to find time to read them. Let us know if you get the chaise. I haven’t bought furniture (other than book shelves) from IKEA. Only candles and kitchen utensils, etc. Love that part of the store.

It was nice chatting with you on twitter this morning! Great review of Rush on goodreads, sounds like a fun book. Our summer has been super humid… they say the most humid on record, though we haven’t set and records for temperature or rainfall. You always have such great books to choose from 🙂

That was fun…thank you…we have had that awful humidity, too! I love having lots of books and I am forever thankful to all of the wonderful publicists for giving them to me. Plus I think I am the only person I know who loves Edelweiss…they are an amazing source of books!

I am going to try it…it’s only 4.99 a month through xfinity and there are lots of the deep dark mysteries that you and I both love. You can get it through Amazon Prime, too, if you have Alexa or a fire stick. Through them you get a free week!

Yes! I loved the series…I binged the whole first season. They are getting ready to film season 2…I think they are like the books but better…more updated…I imagined Agatha as kind of frumpy but that’s not the case in the tv series.
